Whether the number of 6500 migrant workers’ deaths is lower or higher is obviously important. However, the reasons for their deaths are urgent because, as is far too often fact, we, and more importantly their families, are being lied to.
The question is: WHY?!
Our fight, our war in the 21st century. No matter who we are, where we are nor where #HumanRightsViolations, #HumanRightsAbuses and #CrimesAgainstHumanity throughout our world are perpetrated.

This guy may be “defending football and injustice” but his justification of what “we Europeans have been doing for the last 3000 years around the world, we should be apologizing for the next 3000 years” is a typical media spin to whitewash the #CrimesAgainstHumanity of defenceless #migrant workers who died because they were looked upon as less than animals.

#Qatar’s government says that 30,000 foreign labourers were hired just to build the stadiums. Most come from #Bangladesh, #India, #Nepal and the #Philippines.
According to the #Qatari government, there were 37 deaths among workers at #WorldCup stadium construction sites between 2014 and 2020. However, other sources disagree that this number is accurate.
The #Guardian has found that around 70 per cent of migrant worker deaths have been attributed to sudden cardiac or respiratory arrest from “natural causes” by #Qatari doctors.
Qatari #doctors said they were pressured to fill out death certificates in this way.
Numerous witnesses have human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International or Fairsquare reported.
And their reports suggest that heat stroke, exhaustion, or rather mild but untreated illnesses are the causes of many of the sudden unexplained deaths. The incompleteness of the available records makes a conclusive assessment impossible.
What remains is the question of why Qatari authorities are not releasing more meaningful documentation of the deaths.
